Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover

Have you heard of Dave Ramsey?

He's a syndicated radio talk show guy that talks about faith-based principles for managing your money and attaining financial peace. In fact, he's written a few books - the first of which is titled, "Financial Peace."

I have started following his program because, frankly, I have not been a good steward of my money (no matter how much or how little I've made...) His plan is very simple (not necessarily easy, but very simple) to follow. Believe it or not, I've got a plan in place to pay off my credit card debts (and I've got a few...) within 24 months, I am operating completely on a cash basis... and, I'm having fun doing it!

I recommend two books: Financial Peace (which I'm actually getting for Tai!) if you're in good shape and just want to learn some solid ways of staying that way on purpose. And then the "Total Money Makeover." This book puts all of Dave's ideas into a solid plan of action and has many case studies of families who have implemented his plan and are on their way to real and lasting financial peace. That's the one I got... :)

Here are links to both books in case you decide to check them out:

I'm sharing these with you because I wish someone had shared something like this with me when I was in my early 20's or 30's, it would have made such a differnce in how I managed my finances.
